At Randstad Defence, we’re proud to be partnering with Electro Optic Systems (EOS)—a leading force in the design, development, and manufacturing of advanced defence systems — currently seeking an experienced Technical Illustrator to join their Technical Communications team in Canberra. If you have exceptional skills using CAD software and graphic design tools for drafting, editing, and illustration design of technical publications, this is an excellent opportunity to contribute to critical projects.

The candidate must be an Australian citizen and be eligible for a security clearance.

About the role:

As a Technical Illustrator you will be directly supporting Technical Communications team in the production of high-quality electronic illustrations from CAD files, digital photos, sketches etc. to meet the required need.
You will be engaging with other project engineering, ILS, Training and Maintenance teams to ensure requirements are met within the Technical Publications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, edit and create Technical Illustrations to meet ASD S1000D standards and format using CorelDesigner, Adobe Photoshop, PTC Creo & R4i CSDB (but not limited to). The suite of Technical Illustrations will include (but not limited to)
    • Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETPs),
    • Operator & Maintenance Manuals,
    • Illustrated Parts Catalogues, and
    • Manufacturing Process Instructions
  • Experience with the R4i Suite of software and publishing packages would be highly regarded.
  • Engage with EOS engineering groups both locally and internationally to ensure requirements are identified and met.
  • Cross Functional engagement to ensure Project, ILS, Training and Maintenance requirements are met within the Technical Publications
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree qualification in an applicable field of study.
  • Ability to obtain AGSVA Baseline Clearance
  • Minimum 3 years in a similar role.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to understand and interpret complex technical information.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Experience with CAD software and graphic design tools.
